Overview

Dera Bassi, a city in the Mohali district of Punjab, India, is also a municipal council and part of the Zirakpur tehsil. Strategically situated on the Chandigarh–Delhi National Highway, just 20 kilometers from Chandigarh, Dera Bassi lies near the borders of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and the Union Territory of Chandigarh. The city traces its roots back to the Kalsia state, originally governed from Chhachhrauli, and is home to the remnants of a large Mughal-era fort, still standing on the outskirts, offering a glimpse into its rich history.
